“Paths of Life” brings together unpublished photographs from Flor Garduño’s 45-year career alongside recent works, revealing connections across decades of artistic exploration. The collection is organized into six thematic sections: The Path of Yesterday, Ritualities, Construction of the Moment, Constructed Landscapes, Suspended Time, and Body and Magic.
The book includes an introduction by Garduño, a foreword by Tereza Siza, and an afterword by author Sandra Cisneros. Contributing essays by Mario Botta, Guido Magnaguagno, José María Espinasa, and others provide additional perspectives on the work.
The photographs explore themes of ritual, mythology, and cultural traditions, focusing on the relationship between people and the natural world. Through images of customs and everyday life, the collection presents visual narratives that invite contemplation and interpretation.
“Paths of Life” received the 2024 Premio A. García Cubas for Best Art Book from Mexico’s National Institute for Anthropology and History.
